Editors Letter; Issue 1

My name is Moray and I am a young British fashion designer who has shown at Paris Fashion Week with my water inspired handbag which can be found here.

Moray’s Muse is a side project I’ve wanted to get off the ground before the possibility of Paris Fashion Week was even in my sights. Being a fashion designer is not just fancy parties and sourcing things, its months and months of research and respecting past ur ad campaigns have taken place on things from submarines to auction houses featuring 18th century boats.

However, as we hit the brand's third year anniversary this September,  I realise that I want to tell more stories; I want to spend the next decade looking at making short films. Therefore Moray’s Muse is an accumulation of recommendations for my wonderful clientele on where to take their Moray Luke bags and also doubles as a body of research for me to begin the process of what kind of films I want to make in the years to follow.

For our first issue, our June issue we are exploring Sol, solstice.  It may seem peculiar on why I am making an issue based around the sun when water is our entire aesthetic however of  the extreme of light and darkness that solstice represents factors into a lot of things to do with water. As someone British, June is a time where I spend down the beach reading a midsummer night's dream waiting for dawn to come so I can make a bonfire, however as a history lover, rising sea levels and extreme heat events are  impacting historical sites and running future artefacts.

Lastly I have lots of thanks to give, so many I could include with creating my bag brand (theres a huge list) , but now our extension is Moray's Muse. Firstly to Wayne, and his family; his daughter Brooke who is the model for this issue. My agent Angela for inspiring me to do the whole history thing. And Gigi of course who is consistently there and my wonderful wonderful clientele who helped get me to this stage.

Moray Luke is a fashion designer in her 20s, with a deep love of history. She’s planning on making the jump to directing historical films in her 30s. This is where she documents her research.
